Acupuncture has a history over 4,000 years old and still
it continues to grow in popularity. It works by balancing the flow of
energy and blood in your body. If there is abundant energy and blood and
it is flowing freely then disease has no place to reside.
Among other styles, our acupuncturist Greg, specialises
in the Toyohari style of acupuncture. Developed by blind practitioners
in Japan, it requires sensitive hands to assess the flow of energy through
your body and then to correct any imbalance using needle techniques which
don't penetrate the skin but stimulate a more correct energy flow. As
this improves, then symptoms of illness, injury, pain and stress begin
to disappear. It's very gentle, comfortable and effective.
It also focuses on what is called the "primary
deficiency". A weakness in the deeper constitutional level of your
health which acts as the original "chink in the armour" and
allows illness to breach the defences of your immune system. By strengthening
the energy around this "primary deficiency" it fortifies the
foundations of your wellbeing, speeds your recovery and balances your
body, mind and spirit.

A traditional Japanese style of massage which works on the
same healing principles as acupuncture to heal the body, mind and spirit.
It uses hand and finger pressure to stimulate the flow of energy and blood
in order to create balance and stimulate the body to heal itself.
It can create a deep state of relaxation as well as help
to heal physical pains and the emotional consequences of stress. Clients
have often reported a sense of feeling calmer, stronger and in some cases
taller.

The Chinese healing tradition has a history over 4,000 years
old and the use of herbal remedies has always played an important role
in maintaining the health of generations of people.
Traditionally, the village doctor would visit each family
in the area once a month and prescribe certain foods and herbs to keep
them healthy for the next month. He would take into account the seasons,
the weather, what food was in season what herbs were locally available
and the unique constitutional health characteristics of each indidvidual.
If one member of the family became sick then they would stop paying him
until that person got better because his job was to keep them well.
From this history, a large body of information exists on
how to detect the subtle signs of imbalance before illness occurs and
which plant and mineral substances were needed to correct these particular
imbalances and to regain and maintain a healthy state of wellbeing. Greg
uses powdered herbal preparations which are easy to prepare and take.
